5 Landing Page Mistakes That Kill Conversions

Avoid the most common landing page errors — unclear messaging, weak CTAs, slow load times, and more — with fixes you can apply this week.

Traffic is expensive. If your landing page does not convert, the problem is rarely 'not enough visitors.' These five mistakes show up on business sites every day — and each one has a straightforward fix.

1. The headline talks about you, not the visitor

Replace 'We are a leading agency since 2019' with an outcome-focused headline: 'Launch a website that turns visitors into booked calls.' Speak to the result your audience wants.

2. Too many competing calls to action

One primary action per page. Secondary links can exist, but the main button should repeat the same goal above the fold and after key sections.

3. No proof above the fold

Add client logos, star ratings, or a short testimonial near the hero. Social proof reduces friction before someone scrolls.

4. Slow mobile performance

Compress images, use modern formats like WebP, lazy-load below-the-fold media, and minimize heavy scripts. Google and users both punish slow pages — especially on mobile networks.

5. Generic contact forms

Ask only what you need to qualify the lead. Long forms kill conversion on cold traffic. Consider adding calendar booking or WhatsApp for high-intent local services.
